"Second, I actually did this last year as
a project with my back then 15 year old daughter, Sem.
The story is,
I was already looking at a new project to build something. I’m not an
audiophile,
but I had been looking at record players for a long
time. At the same time, I was trying to find an opportunity
to take
my daughter into the garage, as I wanted to pass on some practical
knowledge to her as well.
I’m the kind of dad that wants to educate
and raise the kids in an equal way, boys and girls.
So, out of
nowhere my daughter says ‘dad, a record player is actually a very cool
thing, I think we should get one.’
My response was ‘I agree, but
then we’re not buying one: you and I will make one ourselves.’ And
that’s how it took off.
We had to learn everything, including the
whole process of real wood veneer. "
