Spotmat #8

*

Cork plate with cork spots.  The cork is neoprene blended technical cork.  .06 inches thick for the bottom plate layer and the spots. (total thickness: 1/8th inch)

*

The spot pattern is three groups of threes. To get the spot pattern, I used one of my previous mats as template with a little help from a draftsman's inking template and a permanent ink pen. Linking the spot pattern with straight lines yields a mixture of 3-sided and 4-sided polygons. I could still link more straight lines and end up with all 3-sided polygons, but I think I like this shape. Whadaya think...?

Editor's note circa July 2023.  I made these several years back.  I did produce some for sale and they were sold cheaply at ~ $20 each, plus postage and shipped in a record ship box.  No complaints were received.  After selling a dozen or so I stopped making them.

Actually I like the Herbies Way Excellent silicone foam mats better than any of the cork mats I've tried.  Including this one.  But the Herbies mats cost around $70 per mat.   Additionally, once you get past the residue issues, the cupboard liner diy foam rubber mats can be very effective isolators as well.
