*TD150 inside

-- Above: With the bottom cover removed, we can see that the Thorens TD150 is the very definition of simplicity in a manual operated record player

* Detail: Tonearm wires

*top facia removed Removing the top facia from the motor plate was easier than expected. A heat gun was used to soften the adhesive. But when I removed the very thin sheet of aluminum, I found that the method of adhesion was by 2-way tape at the perimeter. There were also 4 sheet metal screws holding the facia down at equally spaced inward locations.

*Motor plate removed With the motor plate removed from the cabinet surround.  5 wood screws holds it.

*it's empty! An over view of the cabinet surround.

* A closeup detail of the cabinet surround.  It is a fancy grade of plywood with hardwood outer layers.

* The underside of the motor plate.  What remains attached is the on/off switch and speed change mechanism

* It would take a company of music box makers.  A company that started itself by designing and manufacturing wind-up spring motors.

*Simple idea To design a multi-function switch like this.  Simple.  Cheap.  Reliable.  Made from scraps of remnant metals readily at hand and one (ea) off-the-shelf electrical switch.

*Pull off / push on Pull up to turn off.  Push down to start the platter.  Turn left/right to shift speed.
